Changes in the office!

Hi and Happy Holidays to all!!

In case you did not receive the email sent  2 months ago, there was a price change in the office as of November 30th.  Our initial consultations have increased to $425 for a one hour visit and follow-up appointments are now $130.  I know that these are difficult financial times for many people and I apologize for the changes, but unfortunately the cost of doing business has increased (despite our economy) and I need to make changes as well.

I would also like to announce that we now have a wonderful addition to our office- Jennifer Theiler is now doing massage therapy in our office for your convenience.  She is an expert in pain relief and trigger point therapy, but also fabulous for a great swedish massage to help you relax or a neuromuscular release to help with tension and stress.  Please call the office for more info or to book an appointment.

At this special time of year, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for letting me guide you in your journey to better health and wellness.  I wish you happiness and peace in the coming year and always!

HCG protocol

I forgot to mention the protocol for the HCG diet which has been extremely successful for my patients.

The initial visit is a 30 minute discussion of the patient's overall health, diet history and diet goals.  The HCG diet is explained in detail and a comprehensive packet about the diet is given to each patient.  The option of sublingual drops or subcutaneous injections is given to each patient and the pros and cons of each are detailed.

Each patient is weighed and body fat, lean muscle and visceral fat are measured as a baseline.  Follow- up appointments are weekly and include counseling, weigh-in/body fat monitoring and B12 injections (if desired).

The total cost for the program including the HCG and all of the visits, etc, is $700.

The average weight loss of my patients has been 20-30 lbs in 6 weeks with an even more significant drop in body fat and clothing size.  Patients are keeping the weight off (which is what sets this diet apart) and many have lost even more off of the diet.

We would love to answer your questions or schedule your initial visit- 818-865-8500

What is the process?

I had a question about the process and cost of starting with bio-identical hormone therapy in my practice.  My initial visit is a one on one consult that lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour.  During the first visit we will discuss everything from symptoms to medical history, family history, diet, stress, sleep patterns, etc.  The cost of the first visit is $350.  We provide a superbill at the end of the visit for the patient to submit to their insurance for reimbursement and even provide an addressed envelope to the insurance company to help with the process.  Most patients will receive partial (and some full) reimbursement directly from their insurance company (depending on the deductible and type of insurance).

After the initial consultation, the patient will do the laboratory testing that was felt to be necessary to assess the symptoms and treat the patient.  Follow up is typically 2 weeks after the initial visit and will include a comprehensive review of the labs as well as a prescription for the needed hormones, diet, supplements, etc.  This visit is $125 and may also be reimbursed by insurance.  Future follow-ups will range in time frame depending on patient need.

Patients who are candidates for Vitapel hormone therapy will have both of the above visits and then start the pellet therapy when deemed appropriate.  Cost for this varies with the number and type of pellets needed.  Follow up for pellets is typically every 3-6 months.

My goal is to help each patient feel comfortable with their choice and treatment and have a strong knowledge of their body and their treatment plan.  Making each patient feel special while treating their hormone issues is the basis of my practice and my staff and I strive to achieve that.  I encompass the use of nutrition, stress management, supplements and referrals with my treatments for a truly holistic and "whole person" approach.  I would love to answer any other questions or make your appointment- please call 818-865-8500.

HCG diet is here!!!

Ok, so you ate a bit more than usual over the holidays and now you are feeling guilty and upset about losing control.......I can help you gain control and lose that weight that has been holding on despite all other diets!!!

I am now offering the HCG diet in my office and it is the most effective, long term weight loss solution I have ever worked with.  In a nutshell- HCG helps to mobilize the fat from the areas that you can never seem to be rid of and it resets the metabolism.  By using the HCG and eating a low calorie diet the body will release the abnormal fat stores and use them for energy.  This allows you to actually lose fat and not muscle as well and to reset the hypothalamic set point for metabolism in the process.  You will lose the weight (about a pound a day) and it stays off.

After doing my own mini clinical trial with patients and friends I have found that this diet has an average weight loss of 25-28 pounds in 40 days without feeling bad.   My patients reported feeling remarkably good and not hungry and the weight came off and off.  And it stayed off.

The program is medically monitored and includes body fat monitoring, B12 shots and weekly check-in visits.  Beware of online scams for HCG as many have been rip-offs and the product is questionable if you receive anything at all.

I look forward to working with you on your exciting journey to a new metabolism and a new you!!!!

Hormones ARE good for you!!!!

It is my desire to educate the public on not only the safety, but the enormous health benefits of hormone replacement for men and women.  The media has done a huge disservice to women in particular after the Women's Health Initiative study and essentially told us all that hormones were going to cause us cancer and any number of horrible illnesses.  The reality of the follow-up to this study is that it was on oral estrogen and Progestin (not progesterone) combo and any oral estrogen will increase the clotting of the blood and cause an increase in heart attacks and strokes- particularly in the women studied  who were in their 60's and already had plaques in their arteries.  Add that to the synthetic form of progesterone know as Progestin which has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer, and you have a very dangerous drug.
Now, let's contrast that to bio-identical hormones:  they are not synthetic- when you take Progestin, it doesn't show up in the blood stream (on lab testing) as progesterone, but when you take natural progesterone, it does.  Bio-identical estrogen is given in a form that is not oral and has minimal if any liver clearance.  This makes the risk of increased blood clotting little if any (depending on the route of administration).  Bio-identical hormones are given in dosages that are individualized to each person's unique needs and this is impossible with standard, over the counter hormone therapy.

Hormone therapy has now been shown to decrease the overall mortality of women by approximately 45% versus those who do not take them.  Other benefits of hormone therapy that have been found in recent research:  68% decrease in dementia/Alzheimer's, decreased cholesterol, improvement of insulin resistance, and a 30% decrease in breast cancer in women on estrogen without the synthetic progestin.  We already know about the benefits of estrogen for bone health, but did you know that testosterone actually can help grow new healthy bone- not just maintain it?  Hormone therapy when done naturally and responsibly can not only improve your health, but your overall life and longevity.

Only you can decide which, if any, hormone therapy is right for you.  With the help of a professional who is educated in and specializes in bio-identical hormone therapy, you can be educated on the benefits as well as the sound medical backing that goes with this type of hormone therapy.  I would love to share with you my knowledge and passion for this subject and help you on your quest to health, wellness and happiness!!!
